Gratitude and yoga go together and are both extremely important for our happiness and well-being. Exercise like running or swimming is a wonderful practice to have in your life, but the difference between them and yoga is that yoga connects us to the divine. Yoga teaches us to be grateful for the present moment. Incorporating yoga as a daily practice into your life encourages you to accept your flaws as well as acknowledging how amazing you are too. You will find a deep gratitude for both aspects of yourself as well as in others.
Practicing yoga daily will have you focusing on what is going well for you instead of what is going wrong. When you start thinking this way, you start to live in gratitude and that is when miracles happen. By practicing gratitude we create more reasons to be grateful...everyday. You can bring this practice out of the studio and incorporate it into your daily life.
Keep a gratitude journal. Each night and every morning write down 5 things you are grateful for. Before you sit down for a meal, say what you are thankful for right in that moment. If you have family members that are driving you crazy, focus on what you love and appreciate about them. Practice living in gratitude everyday and feel that wonderful feeling you feel during Thanksgiving.
